E-governance and use of Information communication technology in land management system in the Jharkhand state: Problems and prospects

Availability of relevant and timely information is of utmost importance in conduct of business and is the prime key thrust of the good governance. Electronics governance is the application of Information Technology by government to transform itself and its interactions with customer, citizen in order to create impact on the society. It considers social, economic and environmental aspects of decision making of it policies. It brings down the cost, improves the quality service and makes a speedy reach to all objects targeted. E-governance strongly supports good governance through simplicity, accountability, transparency, participation and predictability. Information Technology strongly transforms the relations with citizens, business and other functions of government. These technologies can serve a variety of different ends such as better delivery of government services to citizens, improved interactions with business and industry, citizen empowerment through access to information, or more efficient transparent government management. This paper described the review of computerization of land record management in the different states specially in Jharkhand. It is complex operation, requiring coordination with various departments at different levels. It also deals with the problems which occurs during the process of land registration and suggestions for the improvement. This is based on primary sources- interview, and secondary sources of information.
