Beam dynamics problems for a /spl mu//sup +/-/spl mu//sup -/ collider

A /spl mu//sup +/-/spl mu//sup -/ collider requires a high-intensity proton source for /spl pi/-production, a high-acceptance /spl pi/-/spl mu/ decay channel, a /spl mu/-cooling system, a rapid acceleration system, and a high-luminosity collider ring for the collision of short, intense /spl mu//sup +/-/spl mu//sup -/ bunches. Significant beam-dynamics problems exist in each of these systems. These problems and some paths to solutions are discussed in this paper.
