Volumetric behavior of a mixture of Portland cement with sodium bentonite: Experimental design of an alternative commercial expansive cement

The shrinkage phenomenon present in the elements made with Portland cement generates problems of cracking if this is restricted to bending stress, this causes aesthetic problems and eventually structural problems. Expansive cements exist in the market that reduce cracking but its economic value makes it uneconomical to use. This document discusses the volumetric behavior after setting and during early-age hardening in a mixture with Portland cement incorporating different amounts of bentonite during a period of 48 hours, during which the volume changes are greater.
