Efficient encryption protocol for wireless sensor networks using one-time pads

Security of data or information is one of the challenges faced in the wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and there have been quite a number of encryption protocols such as TinySec, C-Sec and Zigbee that have achieved this feat. However the drawbacks of these protocols is that there are overheads with respect to packet size, energy and time thus affecting the limited resources that the sensor nodes have. This research proposes to implement an efficient encryption protocol using One-Time Pads with zero packet loss and lesser overhead with respect to time and energy as compared to the other proposed protocol. This research aims to work on the limitations stated by Busching et al as well. An Avrora simulation of the encryption process alone so far shows zero packet loss, negligible time loss and energy overheads less than 0.008% for variations of simulation time.
