Performance analysis of fixed-gain position-velocity-measured tracking filter

This paper analyzes the performance of a fixed-gain position-velocity-measured moving object tracker, called an α-β-η-θ filter. Analytical steady-state errors for constant velocity/acceleration targets are derived as performance indices, and these are used to calculate the optimal gains. Numerical analyses and simulations clarify the effectiveness of the α-β-η-θ filter compared with a traditional fixed-gain position-only-measured tracker (an α-β filter). Finally, numerical simulations demonstrate the application of our optimal α-β-η-θ filter to pulse Doppler radar tracking, and verify the validity of our analyses.
