Research on characteristics of side-by-side supply mooring system

This paper builds up a side-by-side supply mooring system, in which the two ships are parallel and connected by several cables and floating boxes between them are used to prevent collision. And the aim of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the relatively new way of supply and verify the feasibility. And the hydrodynamic responses of the system in the time domain and the frequency domain are calculated to get the motion responses of structures and tensions of cables, so the relative motion of the two ships can be obtained. And also the response amplitude operator (RAO) of each structure in the frequency domain can be obtained. Moreover, this paper sets up several different layouts of the system and different parameters of cables, and the effects of them on the system are discussed. And these results may provide some helpful experience for the practical engineering and the research in the future.
