Outdoor-to-Indoor path loss modeling for 0.8 to 37 GHz band

Currently, the next generation (5G) mobile communication system has been actively investigated all over the world, in order to satisfy the future expected requirements, such as super high bit rate. Here, one of the approaches is to utilize the high-SHF (over 6 GHz) and EHF (mainly 30 - 100 GHz) bands. Here, in order to determine the carrier frequency bands for 5G, frequency dependency of path loss and channel properties need to be understood. In this paper, we clarify the Outdoor-to-Indoor path loss characteristics based on the measurement from 0.8 to 3.7 GHz in UMi (urban microcell) scenario, and they are modeled. In addition, extension of conventional O2I models is discussed.
