International trends in Stirling engine technology development

A brief survey is given of the International Stirling Engine Conferences (ISECs) since 1982, aimed at providing an insight into the international development trends over the last eight years. The discussion covers international participation, sources (industry versus academic), topics, and trends. The 1988 conference in Tokyo, the largest to date, is discussed in some detail.<>
