Carbon dioxide removal from fossil fuel power plants by refrigeration under pressure

The authors present a model process for carbon dioxide removal from the flue gases of a hard-coal-fired power plant by pressure-assisted refrigeration. The basic physics, the single process steps, and the total energy requirement are discussed. The energy requirement for carbon dioxide removal by refrigeration is comparable to the energy requirement for chemical carbon dioxide separation with the help of Alkalonamin (MEA process) and subsequent liquefaction.<>
