The electric strength of liquefied argon and methane

It has already been reported¹ that the electric strength of argon liquid with steady voltage depends on the nature of the electrodes. In particular the strength is strongly influenced by the anode as well as by the cathode surface when oxygen is present as an impurity. The present investigation extends the earlier work by considering the electrode effects in more detail.
