A new generation of insulations

Recent developments in irradiation technology have resulted in new cross-linked polyolefin insulations with both greater high temperature capabilities and superior flame resistance.¹ Depending on the formulation these new materials will last from three to ten times longer at rated temperature than the traditional cross-linked polyethylenes.^{2 3} These new insulations provide better flame retardancy than previously was thought possible for a polyolefin insulation system. Many of these irradiation cross-linked polyolefins are now being used in industrial, utility and transportation applications with excellent results.
