Automating electronic production with electrical pressure-sensitive adhesive tape

The electronics manufacturer who wishes to achieve or maintain leadership in his field cannot afford to overlook methods of automating the dispensing and application of pressure-sensitive electrical tapes used in his production(1). The increasing demands for product reliability(2, 3) and uniformity to meet the requirements of defense and space exploration programs, and of automatic electronic processing and control systems preclude the use of inferior processing materials and antiquated production techniques(4). In addition, fierce competition, whether it be in the industrial, military, or consumer markets, demands that manufacturing costs be minimized without sacrificing quality. The risking of costly processing variables attributed to the human element in manual operations is a dubious luxury few manufacturers can afford.
