A novel OLSR protocol with mobility prediction

There are many routing protocols for MANET(Mobile AdHoc Networks). One of the popular routing protocols is OLSR(Optimized Link State Routing). For a long time, the researchers propose many enhanced schemes to OLSR routing protocol. In this paper we propose a novel mobility prediction routing protocol with energy awareness scheme, named EMP-OLSR, based on the OLSR routing protocol. For this routing protocal, it records the signal energy and time duration when receiving a HELLO message firstly. And then according to signal energy loss formula in two ray ground model, the relative distance between nodes will be calculated. After that the node location will be estimated when it sends next HELLO messages by geometric methods. And then according to the estimated results the node chooses the more stable and reliable routing based on the calculated routing. The simulation results show that compared with OLSR, EMPOLSR protocal improves 4% packet arrival rate, while results in additional 11% end-to-end delay when network topology changes.
