Comparative analysis and simulation of different topologies of multilevel inverter

A multilevel Power converter structure is based on the concept of high power and medium voltage situations. Its concept is to use a series of power semiconductor switches with several lower voltage dc sources to perform the power conversion by synthesizing a staircase voltage waveform. Multilevel converter operates both in inverter and rectifier mode in a power electronic circuit. So, we are focusing on the multilevel Inverter. In this paper we are going to discuss about the motivation of multilevel inverters, it's operating principle and modulation techniques. In this paper we will also discuss about the Total Harmonic Distortion of multilevel inverters which is less compared to two level inverters.
