Projecting the Evolution of Power Electronics: Highlights from FEPPCON VIII

Last September, during the eighth International Workshop on the Future of Electronic Power Processing and Conversion (FEPPCON VIII 2015), more than 50 power electronics experts from around the world gathered at the Grand Hotel Majestic in scenic Lago Maggorie, Verbania, Italy, to jointly predict the evolution of power electronics in the next tenplus years. The aim was to identify technological opportunities and obstacles for applications of power electronics in generation, storage, transmission, distribution, and conversion of electric energy, while concurrently looking for new directions for future research and development.
