Observation of low-pass performance from novel trapezoidal slotted dumbbell shape EBGS

A novel modified dumbbell shape electromagnetic bandgap structure (EBGSs), trapezoidal slotted dumbbell shape EBGS, has been introduced. Very wide stopband and improved low-pass performances have been reported for particular designs using them. These designs are compared with conventional dumbbell shape EBGS. Trapezoidal slotted dumbbell pattern has shown very attractive performance with very sharp attenuation and significantly reduced ripple heights in insertion loss curve.
