Replacement of Thyratrons by a Mosmatrix

The MOSMATRIX switch is constructed from an array of MOSFET switching elements. The switch rating is achieved by a series connection of MOSFET transistors to the required voltage withstand capability whilst the current rating is obtained by paralleling these columns of stacked switches. The designation MOSMATRIX is derived from the physical switch construction which forms a two dimensional array, or matrix, of MOSFET switching elements.
