Introducing PLM at Austrian Secondary Colleges of Engineering

In Austria there is a unique curriculum of technical education which is taught at Federal Secondary Colleges of Engineering, commonly known as HTL (Hohere Technische Lehranstalt). Since necessity of design collaboration within mechanical engineering projects between students is given, the author of this paper has conducted together with TU Wien two projects to implement a Product Lifecylce Management system (PLM system) for using at pilot HTLs. This paper gives an overview of the enhanced PLM functionality, and the gained experiences so far and an outlook concerning introduction of PLM at all Austrian HTLs.
