Confomial sensor accuracy for deep tissue biomedical imaging

The accuracy of a conformal sensor for biomedical imaging is assessed. This imaging sensor is used to extract the electric properties of deep human tissues It operates at 10 MHz and consists of 20 indiridual probes for detecting vicinity electric fields. Each probe can be excited independently while the others are in the receive mode. Received data are used to determine the coefficients of a linear representation expressing the permittivity of the underlying tissues at a given depth This paper addresses the sensor's accuracy by carrying oat numerical studies using: (a) a multi-layer planar model of the human torso Kith ideal dipole excitations, and (b) a multi-layer cylindrical model of the human torso using actual resonating dipole elements. It was concluded that accuracies better than 2% for the planar and 12% for the cylindrical model can be achieved.
