Load balancing techniques used in cloud networking and their applicability in local networking

Cloud technologies have become an integral component in all aspects of the internet operation. In order to optimize the access to their services and infrastructures the cloud providers have implemented various techniques to load balance the globally spread datacenters and reduce the services latency. This paper analyses the technologies that are used in the cloud today and their applicability to local networks with a large number of devices, such as sensor networks, that require low latency, load balancing and no downtime.
