Calculation of rotor ventilation and heat for turbo-generator radial and tangential air-cooling system

In this paper, the heat conducting equation and corresponding functional equation of the solution region are presented on the basis of an example of a 20 MW 2-poles turbogenerator with sub-slots and radial ventilating-grooves in its rotor, manufactured by the Russian Academy of Power Affairs, in which the half tooth and half slot are selected as the solution region. According to the theory of fluid mechanics, the equivalent network chart of air speed distribution of the rotor ventilation-grooves and surface heat-sinking coefficient are calculated. The finite element method is taken to calculate the temperature fields when rotor radial ventilating-grooves are distributed along the rotor axis in a varying-step way.
