Fabrication And Characterisation Of Mercury-plated Iridium Microelectrode Arrays

Mercury-plated iridium microelectrode arrays are proposed for trace metal analysis in environmental measurements. The micrometer dimensions of the electrodes are obtained using thin film technology and photolithography. Detection of Cd(ll) and Pb(II) in the nauomolax range is presented. Good reproducibility of the long term measurements emphasizes the viability of the fabrication process. Deposition and reoxidation of the mercury can be repeated several times without affecting the integrity of the iridium surface.
