Flow Sensing And Pumping Using Flexible Permanent Magnet Beams

The feasibility of fluid motion sensors and pumps using flexible permanent magnet beams has been shown. The flow sensing can be achieved if a magnetically twisted thin beam is set perpendicularity to the fluid motion, which causes the beam to bend proportionally to the fluid velocity in square, If the magnetization of the beam has both transversal and longitudinal components, the beam both twists and bends in magnetic fields and can cause unidirectional movement of the fluid. The experiments carried out with plastic magnet ribbons with dimensions 0,5x5x2O mm were in accordance with developed simple linear theory.
