Analysis and design of numerically controlled oscillators based on linear time-variant systems

It is shown that numerically controlled oscillators (NCO) can be modeled using a linear periodically time-variant system. This new description allows a complete analysis and a generalization of NCO. An example demonstrates that a generalized NCO can efficiently achieve high spectral purity.
