Current-reuse transimpedance amplifier with active inductor

This paper presents a low power transimpedance amplifier (TIA) based on current-reuse technique (CR). Active inductive peaking (AP) is used in addition to current-reuse to extend the bandwidth while keeping the low power consumption. For 2 pF total input capacitance, the post layout simulation shows a transimpedance gain of 60.2 dBΩ and 1 GHz bandwidth for the proposed CR-TIA. The TIA gain is increased to be 61.6 dBΩ and the bandwidth is extended to 2 GHz by employing the new CRAP-TIA. The total input referred noise currents of the CR and CRAP TIAs are 637.7 nA_rms up to 1.5 GHz and 907.6 nA_rms up to 2.5 GHz, respectively. The CR and CRAP-TIAs are implemented in 130 nm CMOS technology and consume 2 mA from a 1.5 V supply voltage.
