Evaluation Of An Array Processor For Power System Applications

An evaluation is given of an array processor, the AP- 120B manufactured by Floating Point Systems, Inc., for solving transient stability and similar problems. The paper describes the salient characteristics of the array processor, explains the evaluation procedure, and discusses results. With the particular host computer used, a 20 to 1 speedup in stability simulation can be obtained.
