Equation of state of dense krypton plasma in the partial ionization regime

The compression behavior of dense krypton plasmas over a wide pressure-temperature range have been investigated by the self-consistent fluid variational theory. The ionization degree and equation of state of dense krypton have been calculated in the range of temperature of 4-50 kK and density of 0.01-10 g/cm³. A region of thermodynamic instability is found that is related plasma phase transition. The calculated shock adiabat and principal Hugoniot of liquid krypton are in good agreement with available experimental data when the ionization energy corrections are taken into account. The results provide a guide for dynamical experiments aimed at studying the compression properties of liquid krypton at very density and fill a gap in research the properties of the inert gases.
