Manufacturing optimization for improved AT crystal aging

The military focus on affordable "smart weapons" using GPS and the ever-increasing demand for smaller, more accurate and lower cost frequency standards has put new emphasis on the stability of the TCXO. A study intended to optimize some of the critical process stages of quartz crystal production that may affect aging performance has been investigated. A new type of oscillator configuration to meet the more stringent temperature performance requirements is also presented.
