Novel Analysis Tools on Operating Characteristics of Transformer Differential Protection

The role of differential protection is a vital point for the stable operation of the whole power system. It is an issue of concern to find out some qualitative and quantitative conclusions for the adoption of certain differential protection criterion as the theoretical bases. In this section, preliminary comparative studies about several current differential criteria are conducted and their characteristics and fields of application are presented. On this basis, novel reliability evaluation criteria are proposed to reinforce the evaluation system of differential protection characteristics.
