An Optimal Planning of a Water Supply System in a Fuzzy Environment

The Liao-River basin is a concentrated area of the industry and agriculture of Liaoning province, the shortage of the water supply is a critical problem in this region, To answer this demanding problem, an optimum development planning method of water supply system is considered in this paper. The objective functions used to evatute the allocation of water resource are the gross value of the industrial and agriculturat products, the expansion and operating cost of water intake and the resulted loss due to shortage of water supply. Since the coefficients of constraint equation in the model are imprecise, they are specified as Fuzzy number, for example, the water consumption norm per capita in urban area, etc., An interactive method for solving the muttiobjective linear programming problem with Fuzzy coefficients is presented. The best compromised solution of a real regional planning problem with 34 decision making varitiles and 58 constraint equations is illustrated, The method has been tested in a environment of Liaoning Province of China to study the optimum water supply allocation during 1986-2000 years.
