Optimization of Model Reduction Techniques: An expert system allows it

An expert system approach to the model reduction scheme is proposed. This system represents a useful tool to optimize heuristically the approximated model design. Deriving from our experience, a set of rules for the selection of the appropriate approximation algorithm has been established. The proposed approac h represents a new way of formalizing rules in order to obtain-"optimal" reduced order models. The expert sys- tem (EXPRED) has been implemented by using the M1 shell of Framentec which is one of the most powerful PC based knowledge system software toolsavailable today.
