Improvements In Stress Control Materials

In the ten years since the introduction of the stress control material developed by Raychem for high voltage power cable terminations, a significant amount of practical knowledge has been amassed relating to the performance of these types of terminations on a range of cable types and at widely differing operating voltages. Concurrently, the basic understanding of the material has improved. This paper discusses the theory of electrical stress control, its application to practical systems, and the expected and actual performance of the Raychem material.
