A Fast Algorithm For Alleviation Of Voltage Insecurity

This paper presents a fast method for voltage monitoring and control in the power system network. The method is based on the principle of uniqueness of solution of nonlinear reactive power balance equations and does not require the load flow solutions and system linearizations inherent in conventional approaches. The method involves calculation of new indicators (referred as D-vector in the paper) to predict under voltage or over voltage conditions and suggests the control actions to regain the predisturbance voltage profile or the new target voltage values. The method has been tested an IEEE-14 bus system and is found to be quite effective.
