Impedance mismatch of business process modeling and object-oriented implementation

Many new software development environments are a mixture of complex object based graphical user interfaces sitting on top of traditional RDBMSs. Software engineers and students need to understand both the traditional relational techniques and the object-oriented paradigms. This paper discusses the techniques used to model business processes in both paradigms and indicates a problem that has been observed when implementing these in an object-oriented environment.
