Switchable hyperbolic optical metamaterial based on Kerr nonlinear effect

A layered nano-structure is proposed to operate as an optical hyperbolic Metamaterial. The structure consists of two stacking layers of Au and Al
₂
O
₃
. This structure has three response regions of negative refraction, positive refraction, and zero transmission, at optical frequencies. The proposed hyperbolic metamaterial, in accordance with the non-linear effect and pump-probe method, is used to design an all-optical switch.
