Mobile health (mHealth) has been described as a patient-centered approach to health care. It aims to encourage self-care and self-monitoring for patients. The ability to perform real-time and systemic monitoring from mobile devices allows clinicians to assess medical and psychological symptoms and quickly deliver interventions in a patient's natural environment. As the smartphone becomes ubiquitous, mHealth is a viable technology to empower patients to engage in preventive self-care.
