The signal analysis and imaging of synthetic aperture radiometer

The correlator output of a two-element interferometer is analyzed. The relationship between the bandwidth of this output and the position of the interferometer in its trajectory shows that the bandwidth is dominantly determined by the data in a certain position region. Data beyond this region will not considerably contribute to increment of the bandwidth. A result is achieved that the imaging procedure of the synthetic aperture radiometer is in fact a process of inverse convolution. Simulations show that the inverse convolution algorithm will lead to a higher spatial resolution than the optimal filtering algorithm presented by K. Komiyama (1991).
