Fabrication of dye-sensitized solar cell using nanocomposited aligned ZnO nanorod/TiO2

In this work, the TiO2 film were deposited on glass substrate at different thicknesses and their structural properties was investigated. Meanwhile, the nanocomposited aligned ZnO nanorods were formed by deposited the TiO2 film on top of aligned ZnO Nanorod on ITO-coated glass substrates with different of TiO2 thicknesses using spin coating technique. The nanocomposited alighed ZnO nanorod/TiO2 were coated with different thicknesses of 900μm, 1815μm, 2710μm, 3620μm and ZnO without TiO2 represented as a layer 1, layer 2, layer 3, layer 4 and ZnO without TiO2, respectively. The DSSCs were fabricated from the nanocomposited aligned ZnO nanorod/TiO2 with layer 1, layer 2, layer 3 and layer 4 and ZnO without TiO2 their effects on the cell performances of the DSSC were investigated. From the solar simulator measurement the solar energy conversion efficiency (η) of 2.543% under AM 1.5 was obtained for the ZnO nanorod/TiO2 photoanode layer 3 DSSC. The enhancement of Jsc, Voc and energy conversion efficiency η attributed from better composite formation thus enriched the absorption of light from absorbed dye and then contributed to higher photocurrent density as well as higher of conversion efficiency.
