Magneto-optical visualizer of magnetic field topology

Bismuth substituted rare-earth ferrite-garnet films (Bi-REFG) grown by means of liquid phase epitaxy technique (LPE) on gallium-gadolinium garnet (GGGl substrate with (111) orientation were used as magneto-optical (MO) visualizers. The films had the following features: Chemical formula (BiLuPr)₃ (FeGa)₅O₁₂ thickness, pro /spm mu/m 2 saturation field in (1111 plane, Oe 5 coercivity in (111) plane, Oe 0.5 The magneto-optical head is shown on Fig. 1. MO film by the substrate side was glued by immersion liquid to the widest plane of the glass prism. The prism was a film holder and radiation input, simultaneously. Linearly polarized laser beam was focused through the prism and substrate on the MO layer in the contact place of the latter with current structure. Further, laser beam was undergone total inner reflection on the interface MO film - current structure, was reconstructed by objective and fallen on the photoreceiver. The optical system as a whole was designed like a laser scanning polarimeter.
