A double sided metal-in-gap composite head for 150 Mb/in/sup 2/ recording

The performance of metal-in-gap (MIG) composite heads have been improved by using a single crystal Mn-Zn ferrite and a double sided metal film in the gap. In this paper, we will discuss the recoding characteristics of MIG heads evaluated precisely with thin film media of various coercive forces. The recording density of the MIG heads were examined in relation with O/W and S/N.
