Barium ferrite particulate tapes for high band 8MM VCR

Barium ferrite particulate media are of much interest for their advantage of high density recording characteristics, chemical stability and volume productivity. The barium ferrite recording media already have applications such as large capacity floppy disks and DAT duplication tapes. Further applications for the barium ferrite media to various high density magnetic recording systems are expected. In this study, we have applied the barium ferrite recording media to a high bad 8mm VCR which has the highest recording density among practical use VCRs. Coercivity adjustment to relatively loner value to increase chrominance recording level and longitudinal barium ferrite particle orientation have made the high band 8mm VCR recording characteristics fully compatible with high band 8m particulate metal tapes, despite the fact that the magnetic characteristics are quite different.
