Time-resolved Diagnostics Of Argon Gas Puff Implosions on the 4-MA, 6-TW Double-EAGLE Generator

Radially-resolved XUV MCPIG spectra have previously been used to determine the implosion velocity of argon gas puffs. In this paper, we will report on axially resolved XUV measurements in which we also determine the implosion velocities (40 to 60cm/μs) as well as the axial distribution of ionisation stages. A time-resolved crystal spectrometer, in conjunction with time-resolved pinhole images, are employed to determine the temporal evolution of the electron temperature and ion density, following the analysis technique of Coulter et al.
