Abstract:

This paper presents a highly efficient and low-stress battery charger with a resonant zero-voltage-transition soft-switching theory (ZVT). The proposed converter reduces drawbacks associated with high voltage and high current stresses caused by the resonance of traditional resonant circuits. The proposed topology solves narrow duty cycle and hard switching problems of conventional buck converter in lower output voltage and higher output current. The battery charger meets the requirement that all circuit components must operate with zero-voltage switching. The proposed converter simulated in MATLAB software and simulation results and waveforms for the proposed converter are presented The results are obtained in such a way that the proposed ZVT buck converter is compared with ZVS resonant buck converter. Similarly under the same operating conditions, the switching losses are compared.
