Numerical simulation of hydraulic characteristics of hydro-automatic gate

Uydro-mtomatic gates are widely used in flood control, irrigation and landscape projects. Hydraulic characteristics of Begemann gate is simulated based on the flow field characteristics of hydro-automatic gate with the application of RNG k-ε turbulence model and computational fluid dynamics(CFD), fluid-structure interaction(FSI) technology. Then opening angle, pressure distribution and variation of the Begemann gate in the work process and transition process are obtained. The results show that there is a linear relationship between the opening angle of Begemann gate and the flow, water pressure distribution of the upstream gate flat is parabolic, and that of Romijn weir downstream surface is two straight. At increasing flow conditions, Begemann gate can reach a new steady state by the end of the flow variation; however, at reducing flow conditions, the Begemann gate can not reach a new steady state by the end of the flow variation, and it will need some time to reach a new steady state.
