All-Optical Micro-Clock

We report on progress in the development of an All-Optical Micro-Clock based on stabilization of a Kerr optical frequency comb using saturation absorption resonance of inhomogeneously broadened transition of Rb⁸⁷. The frequency comb will be generated at either 1550 nm or 795 nm and stabilized via a semiconductor laser locked to D1 line of Rubidium. We have demonstrated such a laser having Allan deviation better than 7×10⁻¹² at 1s integration time and approaching 2×10⁻¹³ at 3,000s integration time. We also present results related to generation of phase locked optical frequency combs generated in a magnesium fluoride whispering gallery mode resonator pumped at 795 nm.
