A New Data Processing System For Gated Cardiac Studies

A hardware and software system for scintigraphy and in particular gated cardiac imaging is described. The use of a 128K byte external image memory permits convenient acquisition and/or display of up to 32 642 gated cardiac images. Image arrays of up to 400 x 300 x 8 bits may be displayed on standard TV monitors. Linear (hardware) interpolation (x2 or x4) is provided by the display electronics to improve the appearance of coarsely sampled data. The software system includes an operating system and programming language (PL/S) developed specifically for scintigraphy. PL/S permits system use by unsophisticated operators while providing a convenient environment for the creation of new application programs.
