Using remanufactured switching equipment to reduce restoration time in case of a disaster

Product demand as a result of a single, large unforecasted event, like a disaster, is difficult to meet. This paper reviews the highly developed remanufacturing process of the 5ESS® switch. The ability to remanufacture existing surplus or pre-owned product assemblies allows for rapid response for network restoration initiatives because the main components exist in a pre-built configuration.
