In situ confocal Raman spectroscopy of single living Chinese hamster ovary cells grown on different substrates

Single living Chinese hamster ovary cells on the surface of different substrates have been characterized in-vivo by confocal scanning Raman spectroscopy and conventional optical microscopy. It was shown that both morphology and vibration fingerprint of cells depend on the nature of the substrate material (glass, silicon, bismuth germinate, quartz, lithium niobate, gold, silver, tin dioxide) and related to the specific features of the biochemical status of the cells within interaction area influenced by the growth conditions.
