General vibration characteristics for stators of electric machines

Accurate predictions for stator resonant frequencies and vibration characteristics are essential to design quiet and low-vibration motors. An ordinary rotating machine has a rotor, a stator, an outer frame, and bearing components. This paper discusses the general vibration characteristics for stators of electric machines. The stator is an important component as the source of vibration, which directly transmits borne or airborne vibrations through the outer frame. In order to analyze the vibration from the stator, the laminated silicon steel core, teeth, and copper conductor are evaluated. The stator vibration analysis results are then compared with the 3D-FE results.
