The optimization of aperiodic message transmission on MVB based on Particle Swarm Optimization

There are two different types of messages transmitted on Multiple Vehicle Bus (MVB): periodic messages and aperiodic messages, and the aperiodic messages are sporadically transmitted based on event polling. It's very meaningful to improve the response time of aperiodic messages for train operation safety. The paper considers the optimization of aperiodic message transmission mainly from two aspects: reasonably assigning the device addresses and allocating multiple priority levels instead of two. An optimization model is proposed and a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is applied to get the solution. The result shows that compared with method recommended in IEC-61375, the proposed method could reduce the collisions considerably.
